Updated Glitter Tale Review!

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog, I’ve been on a roll lately with trying to update my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram more frequently so I’ve decided to share my updated Glitter Tale review.

If you haven’t read/watched my last Glitter Tale review you can see my blog post about it here and also check out my old video here.

After releasing that video Glitter Tale reached out to me and some other customers who also had sizing issues letting us know about some changes and updates they’ve implemented to help with their production such as adding on more experienced tailors to their team.

You can check out my updated review video here:

Order Process

I ordered the plaid dress back in the beginning of the year, January 7, 2021, and then Glitter Tale messaged to confirm some design elements on January 22. I then added a second dress, the Retro Kitchen print, on February 26. After not hearing from them for some time I decided to message Glitter Tale to check on the status of my order on June 7. My dresses were then shipped out on June 20, and I received them in Canada on Jun 29.

In terms of the order process, I would say it took a bit longer this time around for an update compared to my first order. However, it wasn’t too long of a wait given that we still have the panorama going on. They were also very prompt with replying to my messages, typically within 24 hours if not even less! So I wasn’t too worried about not receiving the items. I did want to add on that when they messaged me the tracking number they accidentally gave me the wrong tracking number as the one they provided was destined for the US. Hopefully that person received their items too!

Sizing & Design

Now in terms of the quality of the dresses both turned out great! The sizing is a huge improvement from last time and both dresses fit perfectly with just a bit of room to spare. I had also requested to add side pockets to one of the dresses and Glitter Tale really delivered. The pockets are able to fit my entire Nintendo Switch plus my cell phone. I’m actually really happy that they’re able to add side pockets to their dresses as this makes my life a lot easier.

They also added adjustable shoulder straps to the plaid dress, which I think is a great addition. The 2 dresses I ordered last time also had the same design but did not have the adjustable shoulder straps and I think the added buttons on the back really help with the JSK fitting much better! I didn’t have the gaping issue under my arms this time and there was just the right amount of stretch in the dress for fit. Both dresses came with the usual side zipper as well as removable waist ties and bows.

I also got matching head bows for both dresses, but have to say I much prefer the head bow design for the Retro Kitchen print.

Cost

If you’ve never ordered from Glitter Tale they charge a flat rate of $125 for any dress, custom sized and custom designed. I have not been charged more than $125 for any of the dresses I’ve ordered. However, the designs I requested are relatively simple so I’m not sure if they may charge more for more intricate dress designs.

I actually didn’t order a matching headbow to go with Retro Kitchen, however I was pleasantly surprised Glitter Tale added one with my order and I much prefer the headbow style they chose!

Now for some photos of the dresses I ordered.

Rating

Since this was a lot of text, I’ve included below my rating in 4 areas: Order Process, Accuracy, Communication, Price.

Order Process: 4.5/5

  • Quick to respond to enquiries; Very easy to order, you just send them a message on Facebook and they’ll send a form to you.

  • I do wish they provided more regular updates with your order such as WIP photos etc. :)

    Accuracy: 5/5

  • Huge improvement from the last order! Sizing and overall fit turned out beautifully, I have no complaints in this section at all!

Communication: 4.5/5

  • Quick to respond to general enquiries; However, had to message them after not hearing any updates for about 3-4 months.

  • Re-confirms shipping information and the items you ordered prior to shipping.

  • Gave the wrong tracking number but they were very transparent that they had shipped a lot of items that day and apologized for the mix up.

Price: 5/5

  • Still can’t beat $125 for a custom sized and custom designed garment! Very affordable compared to a lot of other brands.

  • I also love that Glitter Tale doesn’t charge extra fees for plus size measurements or custom size unlike some popular Indie brands.

Total: 19/20

Overall, I would say my experience this time around is a lot better than my last order. The one thing that I think still needs a bit of work is providing an update with your order, however, given they were dealing with the influx of orders from the Neko Bubble Tea preorder, the panorama and all other orders on top of mine I think they did the best they could. The fact that they still made time to respond to my messages within 24 hours or less is already amazing compared to some other brands I’ve dealt with!

With the improved sizing I’m over the moon and I've been so excited to wear my dresses more :)

If you’ve tried Glitter Tale recently please feel free to share your experience in the comments below or on my video :) I’d really love to know if anyone else had similar or different experiences from mine!
